Managing tracks in touring.studio allows you to keep track of the paths you've navigated or those you plan to follow on your journey. Whether you're using tracks for hiking, cycling, or driving, you can customize and manage your tracks easily. This article will guide you through the process of managing your tracks, including how to edit, view, and use various options to enhance your experience.

What Are Tracks?

Tracks in touring.studio are paths that can either be previously recorded (from previous trips or sessions) or generated via the route calculation process ("Calculate Route"). Tracks serve as a valuable tool for navigating or reviewing your journey, especially useful for activities like hiking, biking, or long-distance driving.

Steps to Manage Your Tracks:

  1. View Your Tracks:

    • After creating or recording a track, you will see it displayed on your map. You can easily access and manage your tracks from the "Tracks" section of your dashboard.
  2. Track Options:

    • Once a track is displayed on the map, you will have access to various options. These options will allow you to manipulate the track in different ways. The available options are:
      • Reverse: Reverse the track's direction (e.g., if you want to retrace your steps or reverse the path).
      • Zoom In: Zoom in to see the track more closely on the map for a detailed view.
      • Hide: Temporarily hide the track from view without deleting it.
      • Crop: Trim the track to adjust its start and end points, useful for cutting out unnecessary sections.
      • Edit: Open a form to edit details about the track, such as its name, description, and color.
      • Request Elevation Data: Get elevation data for your track, which is useful for outdoor activities like hiking or biking to see elevation changes over the course of your track.
  3. Edit a Track:

    • To modify the details of a track, click the "Edit" option. This opens a form with the following fields:
      • Track Name: Enter a name for your track (e.g., "Mountain Trail" or "City Walk").
      • Track Description: Provide a brief description of the track, such as what it represents or any key details.
      • Track Color: Choose a color for the track. This helps differentiate tracks when you have multiple on the map.
  4. Save Your Edits:

    • After editing the track details, make sure to click the "Save" button to save your changes.

Additional Tips:

  • Multiple Tracks: You can create and manage as many tracks as needed for different routes or sessions. Each track can have its own unique color and description to make tracking your journeys easier.
  • Use Tracks for Navigation: If you’re navigating a route, you can use the track feature to follow your recorded or calculated path, ensuring you stay on the right course.
  • Elevation Data: Requesting elevation data can be especially useful for outdoor activities like hiking or mountain biking to better understand the terrain you’re navigating.
